Shaina: ...Haan, no, tell me. Anything else? I mean, if you felt other things also...doesn't like...just...it will help me...this is not for anything else...because, otherwise we never have time to do these things and it helps taking stock...since it's a one month project.
New Delhi
Musafir 1: No it's a...as you said, no, mix the art with activism...so you can, like, feel that space. It is there, like, for somebody who is totally new to this kind of area and been in Delhi for a long time, once you go, you just get a glimpse of what is Delhi made of, so that is an experience of art also and....
Shaina: Which will change now...hmm.
Musafir 1: Yes. This is going to get over in like, five to eight years or so, when this will all vanish, they will pull everybody out.
Shaina: Ya...they will.
Musafir 1: Yes. So it's a kind of a transition also...
Shaina: Lot of the motor shops have gone to some exhibition in Habitat to see 2021. And they have seen the full transformation of the area.
Musafir 1: Yes. Haan so that's it...for...
Shaina: ANITA! Just see, she has gone with her loverboy!
(continuing in Hindi) This is what all is going on here. A romance brewing between Anita Dube and Lalji.
Musafir 1: Oh really...ha ha.
Shaina: I don't know where they have gone. She has come back to see the tour
Shaina: Hope you enjoy and give us your feedback.
Musafir 2: Sure.
Woman: Thanks.
Shaina: --- ji is our special tour guide.
Musafir 2: Right
Woman: You are fine? Thanks.
Musafir 2: Thank you.
Shaina: Our tour is coming to an end, how did you like it? The entire experience?
Rickshawalla 1: Me? I felt like a man who has been taken to a mango tree, and while reaching there, the man sees that there is a ripe mango on the tree which I will pluck and eat. Then, when he reaches the mango tree, he is driven away. That is how I feel.
Shaina: As in? I did not understand.
Rickshawalla 1: I have given you the example, now what is left to explain?
Shaina: Explain it to me.
Rickshawalla 1: It is like this. A flicker of a certain expectation has been raised. The light is burning, and before it's time it has been extinguished.
I mean to say, man chooses something. For example; if some new food item has come into the market, then for a few days the man feels that some new variety has arrived and is tasty to eat. After that, when slowly, the production of the item increases and the message spreads through word of mouth, then the shopkeeper will be able to sell the item well. Isn't that right?
Shaina: You are right.
Rickshawalla 1 : Like, the Project Motornama. If you see, so many artists have come and left. So now, if one artist leaves, he goes and tells 10 other artists that there is a function at a certain place. So now, according to me, a kind of light has been lit but now that the candle is filled well with oil, now, the matter is coming to an end.
Shaina: So you feel like...
Rickshawalla 1 :Our Akhilesh is not here with us...otherwise, there is a couplet he has made that I will recite.
Shaina: Wonderful. He has written it, haan ?
Rickshawalla 1: See...what is it? The arrow...when the arrow...hits, the heart aches...when the arrow hits the heart aches...and... when someone is remembered, then the image in the heart.... it's something like this.
Shaina: Wonderful!
Rickshawalla 1: It's something like this.
Shaina: Yes. Now we knew that this programme was just for a few days. We knew this from before. But I will try from my end that whenever we come to Delhi we will meet up with all of you. That's the first thing and secondly, we will leave our number with you. Maybe one day you will come our side, next to the river, to our city.
Rickshawalla 1: Yes, yes, Thats fine.
Rickshawalla 1: Ok, is there a person called Bachchi Pandey who lives in Bombay?
Offscreen voice: Bachchan Pandey?
Shaina : Bachchie Pandey? Bachchan Pandey?
Offscreen voice: That's Wrong. That's in films, useless, wherever you go....
Shaina: No, I have no clue.
Rickshawalla 1: Bachchie Pandey
Shaina: Bachhie Pandey?
Rickshawalla 1: He is a criminal. Anyway, let it be.
Rickshawalla 1: What's his name? Like you were talking about Motornama.
When a person is with you - like he is with me. He is a very good friend of mine. When he is here with me, so I don't miss him. When he goes from here, I will miss him a lot.
Shaina: You are right.
Offscreen voice: Like when you will leave...haha
Musafir 2:... then you will be missed.
Rickshawalla 1: no, but XYZ, it depends on every person. Isn't that right?
When a person is present, in front of you, like I am a child to my mother and father - so as long as I am with them, I will not miss them, but when I come here I will miss them, then I miss them a lot.
Shaina: You see, I have been very busy, now in two weeks whenever I have the time I want to make a good film. A private one, only for the 30 of us...of everything. Of how we met initially; I have that. Then Mehmoodbhai came along; I have that as well. Then we sat in the godown on the first day. Then we had tea with Loki and Aupuka. I have that as well. Then when Azam and Kuldeep came along, I have of the seven days at the park. All of that - 'take a breath'... do you remember? Aam, Azam, Aam, Amrut, Akhilesh, all of that....
Offscreen voice: Will we get the photos of all that?
Shaina: All of you will get it.For that, I will take some time. Because whenever I thought I should do it, I felt like I would need eight hands. Even when we went to Bombay, we felt like, what we say in Marathi,'vaat lag gayi', by which I mean, there was a lot of tension regarding a lot of work. So, I will get it ready and will come back to give it to you. Otherwise, can I post it somewhere? Do you have an address?
Rickshawalla 1:Yes, yes, there is an address.
Shaina: Or should I send it to Kuldeep?
Rickshawalla 1 : There is an address. Post it
Shaina: Give it to me.That's great!
Offscreen voice: Give your address.
Rickshawalla 1: Bill and Post Server, Sarama and Thana Dharanganj, District of Gonda.
Offscreen voice: No, not Gonda, give the address of this place. Of Delhi.
Shaina: Should I post it to Gonda or here?
Rickshawalla 1: You can post it here.
Shaina: But also the Gonda address?
Rickshawalla 1: Post it here at Azadpur Mandi.
Offscreen voice: Otherwise, take mine.
Offscreen voice 2: Will it reach you from Azadpur Mandi?
Rickshawalla 1: Yes it will reach me. There are lots of houses there. I mean its not private, I have a job.
Shaina: One day I want to come to Gonda.
Offscreen voice 2: Should we send a mail to panditji@gmail.com?
Rickshawalla: No, no please, let me be.
Shaina: Panditji, I want to come to Gonda one day.
Rickshawalla 1: Ha? You are just saying it. There is a big difference between saying and doing.
Shaina: I will come! I will come!
Rickshawalla 1: So then take down the address. When you reach Gonda district and ask anyone, at this moment there are two people. There is Bhushanji from the Sansad, that is Vibhushan Sharan Singh, where there is good quality and after that if you ask him...they will take you to my house.
Rickshawalla 1: But I fold my hands and entreat you, please don't tell them that Panditji uses 'Ram's vehicle' over there.
Shaina: No. You are right.
Rickshawalla 1: My personality will go down. Isn't that right?
Shaina: Yes, that is right.
Rickshawalla 1: When one has a tongue, one has to use it.
Shaina: Whose is that lying there? Saddam's?
Offscreen voices: It is Saddam's. It is Saddam's. Saddam throws it out, says in one week...
Rickshawalla 1: I can't say much, but if you come to Gonda...then I can't say much, every place is nice; but if you come to Gonda, you will get to see many new things.
Ayodhya is not far from Gonda. There are such places in Ayodhya...as high as your metro is, that's how high the climb to the Hanuman Temple is. If you go to the Hanuman temple, that's how high you will have to climb...
Offscreen voice: It's higher than this...
Rickshawalla 1: These mosques that you see....
Shaina: Ya?
Musafir 3: Very beautiful experience.
Shaina: Really?
Musafir 3: Actually, there is none to explain to us you know. That is the thing we felt. That the artists, artists no, the photographers and correspondents who were present, they could tell us something.
Shaina: Ya, ya.
Musafir 3: There should be someone, somebody, no? So, although the audience is so little, no, there is not much awareness.
Shaina: But how did you like our tour?
Musafir 3: Oh, this is very good. Fantastic. It saves a lot of time and I enjoy you know. Lot of things happen.
Rickshawalla 2: He did not come with me.
Shaina: He did not go with you? Ok. I thought you went with them.
Offscreen voices.
Woman: Come. Let's go.
Offscreen voice: You were telling us about him, tell us.
Shaina: Morning, morning...
Rickshawalla 1: I mean when I woke up in the morning...I sleep on the bed; my friend here sleeps on the floor. I woke up early in the morning, hadn't even drunk my tea, nothing. He tells me, take this, brother. I have made a couplet, hear it. Here first class stuff is being made and he is also making me listen to a couplet. He made me listen to the couplet and I really enjoyed it. I mean, his tongue is (inaudible)
Shaina: Very good!
Shaina: C'mon, keep writing so that we can say 'Kahe Akhilesh', like we say na, 'Kahe Kabir'
Rickshawalla 1: I want to say one more thing. Someday, in life, you will remember, that sometime in Delhi, there was a program called Motornama. You will remember.
Offscreen voice: Definitely! I will remember.
Rickshawalla 1: This is Pandit's word. Do remember! C'mon, shout your slogans!
Offscreen voice: Come on. Panditji, do you have work now, with everyone?
Ok, let's go. And this headphone I will leave with you.
Musafir 4: I don't need to turn this on?
Shaina: Ya. Turn it on. Keep listening. I want to capture your mood as well.
Musafir 4: Ya. Ok.
Shaina: Begin.
Rickshawalla 3: Just like you have come by Metro...
Shaina: Tell him...
Rickshawalla 3: ...you have come by Metro, so this Metro is the pride of Delhi. It moves very fast. In today's time it is the fastest vehicle. I have never sat in it, but people who have say that in five or ten minutes it drops people here and there, very fast. You have come here by metro, but if you want to go home from here or in the lanes, only a rickshaw is with you to drop you to the door. Now let's go ahead.
Musafir 4:Let's go.
Shaina: Ask him some question, where are we going?
Musafir 4: Where are we going now? Where are you taking me for a tour?
Rickshawalla 3: I'll take you to the clock tower.
Musafir 4: Straight to the clock tower?
Shaina: No no, not like this. Explain a bit about Motornama to him. Think that this is the beginning. Ask him.
Rickshawalla 3: I'll be taking you on a Motornama tour.
Musafir 4: What is the Motornama tour? What kind of tour about motors is it?
Rickshawalla 3: It's about motors, as in, now it's the age of motors. There are motors used in everything. Whether it is a cinema hall, or a flour mill, or factories, they all work on motors.
Musafir 4: Ok.
Rickshawalla 3: There are small motors in cars too.
Musafir 4: So that means you are going to tell me about motors?
Rickshawalla 3: Yes, I'm going to tell you about motors.
Musafir 4: Ok. Let's go then?
Offscreen voice: Greetings, Madam.
Shaina: Hi Saddam. I saw you right now at the Ice Factory junction.
Shaina: Haa...
Shaina: Umm...Ram Surajji. Listen, listen. Ask him to turn on song no.1
Rickshawalla 3: Turn on Song No.1
Musafir 4: Song No.1?
Rickshawalla 3: Yes.
Musafir 4: Ok
Shaina: Come on.
Musafir 4: Ok.
Rickshawalla 3: From here?
Shaina: Take it, take it. From wherever you reach sooner.
Shaina: Ya. I mean take one or two out, I need it. I need the one which says 'The rickshaw tour begins here' or 'ends here'. I need to take that with me.
Musafir 4: End or...? Starting and end, both?
Shaina: Yes. Otherwise just give me one.
Musafir 4: Let's take the starting one.
Shaina: Let's take the end one.
Shaina: The 'Chalti ka naam...'
Musafir 4: (Humming song)....Oh!
Musafir 4: (Singing along)
Musafir 4: (Singing along)
Shaina: Show me a close up. Turn it a little towards me.
Musafir 4: (Singing along)
Shaina: Ram Surajji, look behind and say, "We are reaching the clock tower."
Rickshawalla 3: We are reaching the clock tower.
Musafir 4: What are you saying? What are you saying?
Rickshawalla 3: We are reaching the clock tower.
Musafir 4: What? We are reaching the clock tower? Ok.
Rickshawalla 3: Once we reach there I will tell you about it.
Shaina: Tell us, after going a little ahead.
Rickshawalla 3: Now you have reached the clocktower.
Musafir 4: Yes? What are you saying?
Rickshawalla 3: You have reached the clock tower*.
Musafir 4: Clock tower? Is this the clock tower?
Rickshawalla 3: Yes.This is our clock tower.
Musafir 4: Ok. Is this your clock tower?
Rickshawalla 3: It is everyone's.You and I live here. It was built in 1941
Musafir 4: 1900...?
Rickshawalla 3: ...41.
Musafir 4: in 40?
Rickshawalla 3: 41!
Musafir 4: Ok. 41. Ok.
* The word 'ghanta' is used for clock as well as bell, hence clock tower/bell tower
Rickshawalla 3: The person living in this very vegetable market place, Ram Robji built this.
Musafir 4: Ram Robji?
Rickshawalla 3: Ram Robji.
Musafir 4: Who was this Ram Robji?
Rickshawalla 3: He was an inhabitant of this vegetable marketplace. He was a Lala.
Musafir 4: By Lala you mean someone who was from old times?
Rickshawalla 3: Yes. From old times. For many years since 1941, a lot of workers have lived here. Thousands in number. Over there was the Birla Mill.
Rickshawalla 3: Over here was the Birla Mill.
Musafir 4: The mill that is in front of us, is this Birla Mill?
Rickshawalla 3: This is Jaipuriya Mill.
Musafir 4: Ok, ok.
Rickshawalla 3: Birla Mill was there. It was a cloth mill. It has been shut since very long.
Musafir 4: It was a cloth mill?
Rickshawalla 3: Yes. It has been shut since very long.
Musafir 4: Since how long has it been shut?
Rickshawalla 3: Since very long. In old times every worker did not have a watch to wear. They did not have enough money to buy a watch.Today, it's not like that. But in that time, Lalaji, Ram Robji, built this tower.
Musafir 4: So the clock works even now?
Rickshawalla 3: Yes, the clock works even now. In between it had stopped working for a little while, but then it got renovated and repaired and now it's working.
Musafir 4: Ok, so now it is working?
Rickshawalla 3: Yes. It is working...and based on it's time, the workers used to go to work. In the beginning there used to be a sound, but now it has lessened. On hearing the sound they used to start work in the morning and in the afternoon, after hearing the sound of the clock they used to have lunch and in the evening hearing the sound of this clock they used to...
Musafir 4: You mean the cloth mills used to shut at the sound of the clock?
Rickshawalla 3: Yes, they used to shut.
Shaina: There were a lot of mills here.
Rickshawalla 3: There were a lot of mills.
Offscreen voice: All the mills here are shut.
Shaina: What did you say?
Bystander: Birla mills...all mills are shut down.
Shaina: We know.
Rickshawalla 3: Let us go now...
Shaina: Once more say it again at a stretch. He will not interrupt. What you have been saying; the workers did not have a watch and the clock/bell used to sound. Say it again.
Rickshawalla 3: Now, previously there used to be a lot of workers living here. and this clock tower used to sound, the bell used to ring, hearing the sound of this they used to go to work and in the afternoon hearing the same sound, they used to break for lunch and in the evening, hearing this sound they used to leave work.
Bystander 2: This used to happen in 1970's, that the bell used to sound.
Shaina: ...that the clock used to sound,ya?
Bystander 2: This used to happen in 1970's and 80's
Shaina: So the worker's shift was according to the sound of the clock? They used to get to know?
Bystander 2: Ya.
Shaina: You have been here since then?
Bystander 2: Yes.
Shaina: What do you do?
Bystander 2: I used to do labour work.
Shaina: In the mill?
Bystander 2: Not in the mill, somewhere else.
Shaina: Tell him the song number of the 'time' one.
Rickshawalla 3: Turn on song no.2
Musafir 4: Song number?
Rickshawalla 3: Two
Musafir 4: Two?
Shaina:No, five. The 'Time' one right?
Rickshawalla 3: Song no.5? Turn on Song no 5.
Musafir 4: Ok.
Shaina: How are you? How are you Papaji? We were in Bombay...in Bombay.
Sardarji: Wah! I have found my daughter-in-law.
Shaina: I had called up twice. You were not at home.
Sardarji: My brother had died.
Shaina: Ok. Where? In Punjab?
Sardarji: In Punjab.
Shaina: From where had you gone?
Rickshawalla 3: Here is a motor repair shop. Here motor engines, vehicles etc. get repaired. Previously, a lot of workers used to live here. But due to some reasons, the work here has reduced. The government has....
Shaina: So tell me Papaji...
Sardarji: This is a grinder.
Shaina: Yes.
Sardarji: And there is grinding happening now.
Shaina: So,you repair trucks?
Sardarji: Yes.Trucks, Cars. Everything.
Shaina: Everything.
Sardarji: This is a new vehicle, P.C.
Shaina: Which one?
Sardarji: P.C. The Big one.
Shaina: Hmm. This is the head, right?
Sardarji: No. Blast.
Shaina: This belongs to tea glasses. Should I take it?
Sardarji: No. Let it be. It belongs to the tea fellow.
Shaina: So tell me about the lost glory of Roshanara road; what is the difference now?
Sardarji: Now after the sealing and all that, it has become a little less. Before we used to work as long as we wished to, right upto eleven, twelve o clock. We never used to leave before eleven o'clock.
Shaina: And now?
Sardarji: Now, we close at seven o'clock, in front of you. And there used to be so much work...a lot!
Shaina: So from when has it been down? Since the sealing? Or before that?
Sardarji: From the sealing...(inaudible).
Shaina: Come on. We are leaving. I will return at 6 o'clock to meet you.
Sardarji: You can come whenever you want to.
Shaina: 6 o'clock, 6 o'clock.
Shaina: Ok. Then they will be too late. But then I'll call you in a bit? I'm shooting.
So I'll see you at Habitat. Ya. I'll call as I reach there. Ya. Bye.
Rickshawalla 4: Sir, turn off the song.
Musafir 5: Ya, ya. I'll turn it off. I have turned it off.
Rickshawalla 4: Sir, pay attention. I want to show you something. I will come here...Sir, come here. The wall that you are seeing, sir, she herself is saying that 'I am new.' What's the reason for building this new wall, sir? It's the Metro. When the Metro was passing from here, there was less space for her to pass. So, sir, see what she has done to create a path for herself. See it, it's in front of you. Sir, these houses have been demolished. Why? When the Metro didn't get her right of way, she didn't see anything, just like an elephant who keeps on walking, regardless of whether an ant dies or a cheetah dies beneath the elephant's legs. She doesn't see anything, sir. In the same way the metro went passing by.
Rickshawalla 4: So Sir, what I'm trying to say, all this damage that has been done, over here sir, the space that you see - there were a lot of huts. So sir, the houses which were demolished; those who had the paperwork - they were saved, but the sad thing is that those who did not have the paperwork, those poor people could not do anything. They seem to have disappeared from the face of this earth; no one knows anything. But, let it be sir, in Delhi such things keep happening because of the Metro.
Rickshawalla 4: Come on sir, I'll show you something else.
Musafir 6: Ahmed, what is written there? I can't see clearly.
Offscreen voice: Jagdish Bhavan
Musafir 6: Underneath that, the year is written.
Offscreen voice: Underneath that, the year is given. It is written in Hindi
Offscreen voice 2: It's not written...Something Bhavan is written...'Jagdish Bhavan'
Rickshawalla 4: There are a lot of things I want to show you. In front of you, you are seeing thread being made. And from what is thread made, sir? From kapas (cotton). Cotton, which is called 'rui' in Hindi, in India. That is called kapas. So sir, where does this cotton come from? It comes from many places, but one place produces a lot of it. In Maharashtra there is a village called Vidharba. Sir, in their black soil, this used to be grown a lot. But the sad thing is that now, it is produced very less. Why so less? Less because now there is a seed, a hybrid, which is called BT Cotton. That seed is so dangerous, that once you sow it, then the next time it does not produce any more seeds. The farmer has to go back to the city to buy it, and again sow it and then he will be able to grow it again. So because of all these complications, the farming has reduced. But, the expense is the same, but the produce is less. Now, the children will demand the same expenses, right? Now, because of the...
Musafir 6: Will anything come...it won't come in the light right?
Offscreen voices: No no...
Rickshawalla 4: These threads are made from cotton and from these threads is made cloth. This cloth is used to make our beds and bedsheets, but the sad thing is, sir, because of lack of cotton, even this is produced less. But, sir, previously this work used to go on well. It used to make a sound. This is our first Motornama, sir. Come along, sir.
Musafir 6: ...after concrete has come in...cement...after cement.
Shaina: No one read the year na?
Musafir 6: It will be just after cement, we can use some cement...and...but with the wood and the pillars...
Musafir 6: Now should I start it?
Shaina: Number 2.
Musafir 7: Which track should I start now ?
Rickshawalla 5: Uttam Nagar. Sir, Uttam Nagar....(?) Foreigners, when they came, used to stay here. But now it has become the opposite. Now, from there, one has to come here. First one used to go from here to there...
Rickshawalla 6: Since after our independence this place was just like this for 35 years, but few of our brothers from Bikaner did such things that it was possible to enter this place again. Otherwise this place was known to be a haunted house.
Musafir 6: Really!
Rickshawalla 5: In British times, sir, this used to be a big godown of tents. When the British left, sir, then for sometime, they used to manafacture gunny bags. By gunny bags I mean when grains, wheat, used to come from the villages by truck, then then it is stored in gunny bags. So,sir, that used to be made here. So then when that too did not work, they stopped that and left. So this place was shut for very long. This place became like a haunted house. But sir, the thing is, some people came from Bikaner...come sir.
Offscreen voice: The wood from old times is the same as the iron of today.
Shaina: You are right, brother!
Offscreen voice: Come along sir, come.
Shaina: Namaste Biket.
Rickshawalla 4:...So new-new cars are coming in, sir, so to save it from dirt and dust, these people opened a factory of car covers. So, I will show you below how the covers are used.
Shaina: Akhilesh, you also speak, otherwise Lalji takes over everyone's conversation.
Rickshawalla 4: Sir, all together I am saying that such a big factory is working; it is using our dear motor. This is our second Motornama. All work gets done by the motor. Come along sir, here also you can see and speak with them. You can ask questions.
Shaina: You speak now, Akhilesh.
Shaina: What?
Offscreen voice: One costs 300, the other 500.
Shaina: I too have bought one of these. We use this for our car in Bombay.
Offscreen voice: Smells of petroleum.
Shaina: You can smell it? 400 covers are made in a day.
(cricket commentary in the background)
Shaina: Metro...and this is your main signal, the signal which comes before New Delhi...five minutes before...ya, it's right here.
Musafir 7: This used to be... in the pre-war era, some of the chawls used to be here.
Shaina: The servant quarters were here
Musafir 7: You see the first...you see the entry? Ya, it changed after the war...er...after the partition.
Shaina: And a lot of Gujaratis settled here. because they were the, also, accountants. Munimi.
Musafir 7: Now there is a new phase with sealing-veeling and all.
Shaina: Basically 96-2000 closure of industry.
Musafir 7: Ya, this whole area.
Shaina: Diesel, CNG and how that impacted the thing and then Metro and then sealing. One after the other.
Musafir 8: Now who is staying in this house?
Offscreen voice: I don't know
Musafir 7: Ghostly places, a lot of...
Musafir 8: No no, people are staying there baba.
Shaina: Ya, people have recently moved from other rehab...
Rickshawalla 4: Come along sir, come along. Come along, sir, we have to show you a lot, come along.
Offscreen voice: A lot more is left.
Shaina: Carefully.
Musafir 8: Sir, see how many big, empty spaces there are. Can't imagine from outside.
Offscreen voice: Ok Inderji
Rickshawalla 4: He puts the reel on the machine and after that sir,....(inaudible)
Bystander 3: The same film used to be screened in two halls. Half used to be there and half here.
Shailesh:...after this...
Rickshawalla 4: In today's time, 800, 100, 1200 seaters are made. In those days, in this hall, they had made 800 seats; 800 people could sit together and be entertained. These kind of halls were not there before......(inaudible) sir, we will go ahead. Come along.
Offscreen voice: It is right behind this, the clock. The only existing large scale industry.
Musafir 7: How big would it be? Still big?
Offscreen voice: It's 400 workers.
Musafir 7: Must be a big industrial area.
Offscreen voice: Ya, ya, Birla and all
Musafir 7: There were small scale units which were sealed.
Offscreen: Ya ya, sealing happened more down...
Musafir 7: They did not allow you to go inside?
Offscreen voice: No...(inaudible)
Musafir 7: Its huge, ya.
Offscreen voice: there are entire cupboard-like things doing the shaking...
Musafir 7: Huge...huge space
Offscreen voice: Ya. Gigantic space.
Offscreen voice: Look inside from here itself once.
Offscreen voice: See thats's the tower. You need the towers because that is multi-storey filtration. It goes up. then comes down, then goes up, then comes down. But it's huge inside.
Offscreen voice 2: When there was a shot of the Metro track, you could make out what's the size of this actually. The Metro, which itself is a huge thing.
Offscreen voice: Come on, come on.
Shaina: I can't get the guy's face when I sit. This is much wider.
Offscreen voice: Which guy's face?
Shaina: The passenger.
Shaina: Hello. I don't know, wherever they are going. Accha, no. This is Panditji's route.
The ice factory first, then Gurudev. Yes. Panditji does it his own way. Yes. So that's what is happening.
Rickshawalla 4: Sir, if you see this. this is the Ice factory. Come, I'll tell you about this. Come see it.
Rickshawalla 4: Come sir, I'll tell you something.
Rickshawalla 5: ....that is why slowly all water is getting over. Now people are making money through water. But there has been a lot of profit with the opening of this ice factory. Like, in summer, there is a need. And now they have started making ice cream.
Musafir 7: Ice-cream gets made here?
Rickshawalla 5: No, here only ice is made. Like before, if anyone had an accident or got hurt, then after 24 hours one had to cremate them, now there is ice which helps keep them on display for 10 - 15 days longer (?)
Shaina: Akhilesh, say that once more for me. I did not hear. The Rahman one.
Rickshawalla 5: ( He recites a couplet about water) So if you save every drop of water then you will get...( moti manaas soon) otherwise everything will get over.
Rickshawalla 5: This is open since 1907.
Rickshawalla 4: Sir, one minute. Sir, try to understand this. You are seeing this, why am I showing you this? I am showing you this because this factory is very old. Sir, in our country water is selling anyway, but see how they have changed the form of water and made it ice and sell it...so they have sold a lot of water and made money.(inaudible) ( he recites the same rahman couplet). And I'll tell you the meaning of this as well. Sir, when Rahman was leaving, his loved one said to him, my dear friend, the water that you have, don't waste it, keep it safe. What not can happen if there is no water...
Rickshawalla 4: You will definitely need it. For ten minutes, you will be able to bear the lack of water, but after ten minutes, if you do not get the water, you will die. So, that's why Man will not stay alive. And 'choon'... we call wheat 'choon', if we do not mix water with the wheat, we will not be able to knead it, nor put it on the fire, nor eat it. That's why sir...( he recites the couplet)
Shaina: That's good!
Musafir 9: Come on Panditji.
Rickshawalla 6: Come on, come on.
Rickshawalla 6: Everything is coming to an end, slowly slowly.
Offscreen voice: She is also going?
Offscreen voice 2: Yes, both are going.
Rickshawalla 6: Just like for a man who gets high on marijuana and alcohol, just like that, when the hybrid seed is sown it needs more strength. Before this, our farmer brothers used to use cow dung, no urea, ammonia. I used to also use 'Chand chaap' urea. It is very good urea. but, we get to know that 20-25 kilos are not enough. Like, if you use 2 kilos ammonia for a field, the next year you have to use 3 kilos of ammonia.
Musafir 9: Next year?
Rickshawalla 6: Yes, next year.
Offscreen voice: No, with this the soil does get weak.
