Fellowship Film: Mawmluh Nature's Paradise
In Mawmluh, nature is not merely admired—it is revered, protected, and lived with. Mawmluh – Nature’s Paradise, a film by Banyllashisha Wankhar, an eighth batch Green Hub fellow, journeys into this serene village nestled in the hills of Meghalaya, where age-old reverence meets modern ecological wisdom.
Known for its majestic limestone caves, with stalagmites and stalactites considered sacred abodes of goddesses by the local community, Mawmluh exemplifies ecotourism rooted in spiritual and environmental consciousness. Here, nature is not a backdrop for adventures but a living, breathing entity to be respected.
Far from mass tourism models, Mawmluh sets a quiet precedent. The film captures everyday acts of stewardship—locals segregating waste, maintaining forest trails, and narrating oral histories that connect land to lore. Through lush visuals of cloud-kissed hills, crystal cave interiors, and vibrant village life, the documentary offers a window into a world where conservation is culture.
In an age of ecological crisis, Mawmluh – Nature’s Paradise stands as a reminder that responsible, sustainable tourism is possible—not when we take from nature, but when we walk gently with it.
