Summary: Film Title: Unveiling Siaang
In the lush Siang valley of Arunachal Pradesh, a complex relationship between local communities and their environment unfolds. While the cultural traditions of the Adi people are deeply tied to the forests, dwindling wildlife populations have become a cause for concern, with fewer animals found during hunts, signaling a growing ecological crisis.
The film follows the work of a team from ATREE (Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment), in partnership with Global Conservation, as they engage with local communities to strike a balance between conservation and cultural preservation. Together, they identify areas where hunting can be reduced to allow animal populations to recover.
Through training programs, the ATREE team works with local ground staff and youth, encouraging them to view their biodiversity systematically, fostering a long-term conservation mindset.
