“Not everyone was connected to formal forms of creativity (…) and also there were no many opportunities for people say from the working class or even women (…) to be able to find ways in which they’re allowed to be writers, poets, film-makers, and I think there was a need for all of us to connect and to be able to find the space within work and also larger political spaces, to be able to tell one’s own stories and it was through many discussions and through various meetings the film medium reaches people and also attracted many of us as a medium and as a way to creatively express yourself and also to connect with people.
