Aaliyas father shows Aaliyas picture to her grandfather
INT. DINING AREA - NIGHT
A female server walks in with a plate of salad. Aliya and her extended family are at a dining table. She sits beside her father as the rest of them banter.
Dad, where's grandpa?
He will be sitting in his chair.
She sits up and holds on to a young boy.
Shyamal, take me to grandpa.
He walks her to a lounge area that looks out at a grove of apartment buildings. Vinay is with her grandfather, laughing hysterically and smoking a cigarette. The old man is sitting back in a chair.
Grandpa. Should we go?
Kuch award mila?
(Did you get an award?)
Sirf trophy mili? Ya kuch cash bhi mila?
Aliya's father joins them, holding the framed photo of the Jain lady seen at the exhibit earlier.
Twenty five thousand pounds, dad, for this picture.
Vinay continues laughing uncontrollably.
Nanaji batao isko...
(Grandpa, tell her...)
A renewed spurt of laughter hits him as he falls to the ground.
That's a secret.
Grandpa joins in the laughter as Vinay rolls on the floor.
