SS:Tikekarji pehle aap thoda Trinity club ka ithehaas bataenge humein?
(Can you tell us a little bit about the history of Trinity Club?)
BT: Yes, sure chalu karaicha ka? ( Should we begin?) Trinity club was actually started working from 1908, Marathit chalel ka? ( Can I speak in Marathi?) 1908 aani ha sthapan kela ( The club was established by) Bhaskarbua Bakhle... Pandit Bhaskarbua Bakhle. Bhaskarbua Bakhlyancha naav tumhi aikla asel? ( You must have heard about Bhaskarbua Bakhle?) Great maestro and Bhaskarbua Bakhle used to stay here in Shastri Hall.
Tyamule Shastri Hall cha parichay sangeetashi, Bhaskarbua Bakhlanshi hya lokanshi hya sanglanshi parichay jhala. ( This how Shastri Hall was introduced to music, Bhaskar Bakhle and all the other people.) Ata hi sthapana kashi jhaali? hi jaaga ji aahe ti dusrach mansachya naavar hoti pan toh sangeetacha shaukin hota. ( How did the club get established? This place was owned by another person but he was a music lover and he was a bank officer)
Tar koni tari peti aanli, tabla aanla, aani tya jaage madhaye gaana gana suruvat jhali, gappa marne aata. (So someone brought the harmonium, the tabla and they started singing in that space and people would come and chat.)
Aata Trinity club cha udesha kai hota hi jaga sthapana maage Bhaskarbuancha? Ki je bahergaon je kalakar yetat gaanare mhana, vaajavnare mhana tya lokana jaaga rahala ashi navti kutech ( What was Bhaskarbua's aim in establsihing in Trinity Club? Bhaskarbua's aim in establishing the Trinity club was to provide a space for musicians who would travel and did not have a space to stay)
Te ek karyakramapurti ka hoi na te aapla jaaget ithe yaayche aani rahaiche tithe aapla vyaysay pan karaiche sangeetacha aani jaiche parat. ( Even if it was just for their programmes they would come and stay here for their business and leave.) Ase moth mothe kalakar jithe yet asat rahat asat ( A lot of famous artists would come and stay here.)
BT: Pan kahi divasani kahi lokani tharavla ki aapan apla weekly basat jauya gaayala Shanivar kinva Ravicar asa kahi tari tharavuya. Tya pramane Ravivar tharla asa sakali 10 vajta gayala basaicha ( After a few days some people decided we should have weekly music sessions on the weekends and they decided to have it on Sunday morning's at 10) aani peti tabla koni tari bhetaiche arre majhi peti aahe, majha tabla aahe. Mahjya kade tanpura aahe mag tanpure jamuya aapan tanpure aanaiche ( and we would find someone for the harmonium and tabla, someone would offer their harmonium, some other would bring the tabla. Somebody would say "I have a tanpura." We would go and bring them
Asa karun aamche karkyakram suru karaiche kon gaayla mhanaiche. "Ha tumhi tabla vajavta ka? thoda basa tabla vajva koni peti aahe ka peti wala? ki chala ya.Tumhi gaata ka chala basa madhye basa bajula tabla aani peti aahe."
(This is how the programmes started someone used to sing and we would ask, "Can you play the tabla? Come play for sometime and then is there anyone who can play the harmonium? Do you sing come and sit here in the center the harmonium and tabla will be right next to you.")
Asa karun gayala suruvat jhali te majha aiklyanantar aankhi lok aale te mhanale ki chala bara ithe aaplyala jaga aahe ganya saathi and sagle loka aahet aani sagli instruments vagare aahet mhanun ase lok jamaila laagli ( This is how the music sessions started and soon the word spread and more people came. They said this was good there was a space to sing and there were instruments and people started attending.)
Koni tari lead ghyaycha ki chala me baba yeto aaj chaha mhajya kadun tumhala saglyana chaha. Sgalyana chaha dyaycha... konala paan aani. Paan khayche tyavelela tambaku paan, supari vagere paancha tabak asayche. Lok pan bin khayche aani konacha vaadh divas asel kahi asel tar kai pedehe, khaana peena
( Someone would take the lead and sponsor tea for everyone or paan. People would eat paan ( betelnut leaf) in those days betelnut with tobacao, areca nut etc. There would be a plate full of paan. People ate paan, if it was someone's birthday or something they sponsor sweets, food and drinks)
Aata tumhi prashna vicharaal hya jaagecha bhada bida kon det hota? Pan ashech kone tari denekare ganyache shaukin mandali aani te je mukhya te he hote te baghatach hote tyancha laksha hota aani tyanchi parvangi ghetleli ki amhi Trinity club hya jaage saathi aamhi hi jaga deleli aahe, tyamule paise denya ghenacha. Bara ticket lavnacha asa kai prashnach navta. Tyamule kon hi yaava kon hi gaava.
( Now you may ask me who was paying the rent for this place? But there were many generous music lovers and the owner of the space was aware, also we had taken his permission to run the Trinity club and to give us that space. So there was no question about the give and take of money or charging people for tickets. It was open to all to come and sing)
BT: Aani ulat Trinity club chalvaicha mag tyala he kai pravesh fee kai? Tar amhi tharavla ki pravesh fee kahi nahi jo regular yeil toh member. Jo regular tithe yeil aapla tabla vajan kareil, aapla gayan kareil, peti vajan kareil, chaar lokan madhey mix hoel, raheel vaigere. hyacha karta membership nahi. Hi membership aahe. Tar ashya tarini te chalu jhala aani mag lokancha madhye naav hoila lagli ithe jaaga ashi aahe Girgaon madhaye hi ashi jaaga aahe tenva aapan tithe gayala basuya
(If we had to run Trinity Club what would be the entry fee? We decided that anyone who is regular is a member. The ones who come regularly and play the tabla, sings or plays the harmonium, mingles with the people. Therefore, there was no membership fee. This was the memberhsip. This is how it started and soon it became popular among people that there there's a place like this in Girgaon and we should go there and sing.)
Aata majhya.. majha 1956-57, 55-56 saali me aalo tyacha aadhi barech lok leaders self-made leaders ase karun basaiche gayala vaghere... aata majha.. ashya pramane Trinity Club chi he chalu hoti Trinity Club madhye gayala basna vaghere saglyancha koni koni lamb lamb karun lok yeyche.

BT: Then what happened.
ST: Sab Girgaon mein se sab door door gaye rehne ke liye. Ek mukhya karan hai uska. Baadmein TV ka asar jaise baki jagah par koi nahi aata tha isliye Trinity Club bhi ekdum akela pad gaya.
( Everyone started moving from Girgaon to faraway places to stay. That was the main reason. Also this was the effect of TV like no one came to other places Trinity Club was also left out.
ST: Youngsters aale nahi asa nahi pan tyana itka interest hota asa disla nahi. Kadhi tari yaycha kadhi tari nahi chalaicha.
( Not that youngsters didn't come but they never seemed so interested. They would on some days and not some)
BT: Bara jase divas hot gele tase...
( As days passed)
BT: Lok bahergavi challay la laagle. Dusri kade jaga ghetlya. Ikadche lok sodun tikade gele. Aani shrah madhye suddha moth mothe hall hoila laagle. Changlya gaanya saathi changle uttam hall ase auditoriums he sagle hoila laagle. Kitek thikani. Tyamule Club madhye tar asa professional lok tar yayla katheen hota.
( People started moving to other places. They bought places elsewhere. People who lived here moved away. They started building bigger halls in the city. For better music many good auditoriums started coming up at many places. Then it became difficult for professsionals to come to the club.)
ST: Aani mukhya mhanje tithe nehmi yeenare lok door rahaila gele na tumchya suburbs madhye mag tyana yene katheen padla sagla aani aata tar shakyach nahi mhanje
( The main thing was the people who came regularly went to the far suburbs to stay and then it was difficult for them to come and now it's impossible.)
TN: Lekin bahar se bhi aate the na log sunne ke liye? ( But didn't people come from other places to listen? )
ST: Ha sunne ke liye aate the woh jo programme main ho aur jahir kia jaata tha woh aate the.(Yes, they would come when they would announce or spread the word about the programme.)
BT: Sunne ke liye jo aate the unko bhi lagta tha ke hum bhi gayenge. They used to take interest means dusre ka sun ke unko khud ko interest aa jata tha ke chalo bhi hum gayenge. Amhala shikva kon tari tumhi saaz shikva asa.
( The one's who came to listen they felt that should also sing. They would take interest after listening to others they felt could also sing. Someone shoudl teach us how to play a musical instrument.)
BT: There was Brahmin Sabha also, Brahmin Sabhe madhye suddha karyakram hoiche. And people used to stay with us konala jaga jhopaila tar jaga
( Programmes would happen at Brahmin Sabha as well and people used to stay with us if anyone need a place to sleep).
SS: Toh par Shastri hall mein bhi toh kaafi programme hote the tab nai?
( Didn't Shastri hall have a lot of programmes?)
ST: Nai itne nai. ( Not so many)
BT: Shastri hall madhye Ganpati ustsav changla hot ase tya velela Bhaskarbua Bakhle ithe rahaila suruvatila Bhaskarbua Bkahlyani suruvat keli
(Shastri Hall would have a nice Ganpati festival that time Bhaskarbua Bakhle started staying here. Bhaskarbua Bhakle started the trend.)
BT: Bajuchya hey je Shiva mandir aahe na tithe Lata Mageshkarancha kutumb kinva tumche Bal Gandharva utraiche mandali sagli tithe. Tithle gaani vagere hot Latabai ithech rahaichya tyancha jehva kahich he navta teva.
(There is a Shiva temple here, there Lata Mageshkar's family or Bal Gandharva could come. They would sing there Latabai would stay there when she didn't have anything.)
ST: Tyavelela ithe Bhaskarbua Bakhle ithe rahaiche aat madhye purvi chi gosht tyanchamule kahi jhala asel tar nahi tar Shastri hall mhanje mehfil hachach tumchya Ganpatichi chyach. Ata te suddha kuthe hi hot nahit karyakram.
( At that time Bhaskarbua Bakhle was staying here inside, maybe it was because of him otheriwse Shastri hall was known for mehfil's only during Ganpati. These days it doesn't happen anywhere.)
SS: Abhi Ganpati ke time pe bhi kuch nahi? ( Now nothing happens for Ganpati festival?)
ST: Nahi rehta hai aisa toh kisko itne lagan nahi uske baare mein (not audible).
Sabhi jagah aisa ho gaya hai parinam ho gaya hai thoda sa, TV ka bhi hai.
( No there are but no one is dedicated about it now. It's the same everywhere it has been affected and to an extent because of TV.)
ST: Hum 69 mein yahan rehne ke liye aaye na tab itne programs the, hum bhi gaye the baki hum toh commoners the phir bhi bujurg log bhi aate the gaane ke liye
( We came here in 1969 that time there were so many programmes, we would sing as well but we were commoners there were a lot of seniors who came to sing)
phir bhi baad mein thoda thoda asar ho gaya. Sabhi TV ka aise. Programmes to band ho gaye abhi kitne kam ho gaye. ( later on it started getting affected by TV etc. There are no programmes now very few of them)
SS: Toh aapne last kab gaya hoga programme mein? ( When did you last perform in a programme?)
ST: Main toh... Kiti? 85? ( When was it? 85?)
She may not remember, because there was some accident in 1978, because of that her voice was affected. Ithe maar laga usko ( She got hurt here)
ST: 79 mein ( In 1979)
BT: Thereafter she lost her voice practically she's trying singing also riyaaz karti hai baithi hai tabalji aata hai ( She would do riyaaz, the tabalji ( tabla player would come.)
ST: Awaaz gayi na. Aur usi time mein jo kuch recordings the toh woh humare ladke aur ladki ne ikhtta kiya aur meri 75th mein sab woh jo awaaz hai abhi nahi hai, rahan nahi abhi. ( I lost my voice. All the recordings from that time my son and daughter put them together and gave it to me on my 75th birthday. That voice, it's not there anymore )
SS: Kyunki aap dono ki photo hai wahan Trinity club hall mein aap dono ka gaate huye ke photo hai. ( There's a photograph of you both in Trinity Club, you are singing.)
BT: Aani mhaji mulgi suddha ithe savahya majlya var rahte. ( My daughther who lived on the 6th floor.) She's a disciple of Firoz Dastur.
ST: For 25 years tine shikle tyancha kade.( She learnt for 25 years from him) She got a scholarship from government for music.
TN: Naam kya hai? ( What is her name?) Ah accha accha ( ok,ok)
ST: Usha Deshpande. Abhi bhi university mein jaate hai sikhane ke liye papers moderating everything she does. (She teaches at the University, moderates papers everything she does.)
Aur ghar pe tutions lete hai. ghar pe aati hai tab. ( And she gives tutions when she comes home)
BT: Tumhi sagle photo pahile astil na? ( You would have seen all the photographs?)
SS:Ho Ho, aur sab album vagera sab aap dono ki photo bahut dekhi kal

( They all put together all her recordings, HMV, baithaks from Brahmin Sabha, some from the plays she acted in, recordings which were composed by Vasantrao Deshpande they made a CD of all that.)
BT: Te tumhala (that's what) she will be presenting it to you.
BT: 75th birthday was celebrated by them it was a surprise to her hi CD kadhleli aahe

((What was that in 2000. This is my music from 2000. One of my records is very popular. There were 200 songs that were included in the year 2000. What is the year called?)
BT: Ata lakshat nahi. (I don't remember now.)

( The people who helped us to run this club particiapted activeky and who came regularly, I told you about Athavle.)

( The club should get publicity, people should come and we should make arrangements for them. People should know there's a club here and that musical programmes are organised here.)
BT: Tithe jaga aahe rahaila kalakar bahercha aala ki tyachasathi rahaila jaga aahe evdha sagla te swatha... club che te magazine kadhai che regular aani tyani club cha naav register kele.

BT: Aata tumhi jaga mhanale jaaga aahe tyacha bhaada bida kon kai det hota? Tar bhada dyayla te tenant hote pan nantar te rahaila tithe aalech nahi club madhye mag malakane case keli. ( Now you may ask who was paying the rent for this place. There was a tenant but they never came to stay there in the club the owner filed a case.)
SS: Kisne case keli? ( Who filed the case?)
BT: A case was filed against Trinity Club.
SS: Accha (OK)
BT: But it was not name of Trinity Club bara asech naav tya velela naav navta asech case keli. Koni rahat nahi khaali kara mahnun jaga. ( There was no name to the club then so they just filed case. No one lived there so vacate the space.
BT: Pan one of the members was a judge who used to come regularly. Mag tyani sangitla case jhali courtat chalu jhali tychamadhe club tarfe aamche vakilach hote Bapat vakil mahnun. He was also member but yayche gayla.

His advise was accepted by the High Court jugdes so far as Stamp Act is concerned tyacha karta faar mahtvacha kaam aahe. ( It'a a very important job)
Tar hya Athavlyanich sagla baraich shya goshti kelya Stamp chya babtit aankhi club chya naavavar jaga karun ghetli. ( This Athavle did a lot of things about the Stamp duty and transferred the ownership in the name of the club)
Landlord had to do it. he could not.. now the place is in the name of Trinity club. Tikekar, Athavle, Gokhale nahi. Trinity Club. Trinity Club is having a managing body of which I'm the President. Baaki ( Rest) so many members are there who some have died many have died.

TN: I'm not so good.
SS: Neelaji ne bhi kahan ke woh bhi aati thi Trinity Club mein gaane ( Neelaji said she would come to Trinity Club to sing)

( Amrendra Dhaneshwar has also come here. A lot of people told us to give their place even if we gave our space the name would still be of Trinity Club. Or they would say who are you what is your connection?)
Pan kai jhala so many people barechse lok sodun gele Girgaon mhana koni Bandra, Andheri, Borivli paise milale tyana gareeb lokana kai, old buildings aani tya mule laambun yayla traffic, transport so many problems were there.

( A Parsi guy would come and sit in the corner his name was Dastoor. He would sit and listen and not say anything. He would be quiet when music got over he would leave. But he would be there each time we would sit for a music session.)
Hya kahi goshti aahet te amhala magashi sangaicha rahila hota ki mala koni madat keli ti Athavle main person. (These are some stories which I wanted to tell you sometime back who all helped me Athavle was the main person)
Annasaheb Thatte mahnun aahet( There was Annabhau Thatte) he died. He was engineer he used to play tabla. He was a hefty man I used to call him iron man of Trinity Club some people used to come and try to overpower us and

Te Thatte vagere amhi tyala mag toh palun jaicha ( they would Thatte and run away)
nobody used to wait there.
Asa tarini club che he chalu hota aani ajun tari club chya naavani jaga aahe ata pudhe kai hoel te konas thauk kai sangta yet nahi ( This is how the club has been running and the place is still owned by the club but who knows what happens in future we can't say) One doesn't know.
But it appears Trinity Club's name will be there karan tyana Trinity Club chya hecha sathi ( Because for the Trinity Club) hey Mumbaitlya kuthlya kuthlya sanstha aahet sangeetacha sambandhi chya tyat mhanje amhala suddha patra aala ki tumhi tumchya club baddal saanga. ( This has information on all the organisation related to music we got a letter to give information about the club)
BT: Ashok Ranade taycha Goa ne satkar kela tyacha. Tyacha sambandhi ek mothi pustika kadhnyat aali tyach pustaka madhaye trintity club cha naav aahe aamcha naav aahe

Hey me sagla lihoon dyala lihali hota. Asa tarrini Trinity Club ha naamankit sangeet sanstha asa samjun aahe, parantu aata sadhya paristhithi faar vaaeet aahe aata club madhye koni yet naahit. ( I had written all this down. So this way Trinity Club has been a renowned music organisation, but these days the conditionis very bad no one comes to club anymore.)
Laamb rahaila gele, ani traffic sada Girgaontoon ikade yaycha mhatla tari pandhara rupaiye karcha aahe. Purvi aath aane tram asaichi tram ek anna, do anne.
( People moved far away and traffic if you have to come from Girgaon to here it's 15 rupees. Earlier it was 50 paise and the tram was there, tram for one anna, 2 anna.
So it is good that you have come and tumhi hey kartai club sambandhi ( and you are doing this about the club) tyabaddal( For that) I must thank you.
No no, we have to thank you
As a president of the Trinity club.
SS: Par Trinity club jaise aur bhi aisi hi jagah thi Bambai mein jahan pe ke Trinity Club jaise aur koi jagah nahi thi ( Was there another place like Trinity club in Mumbai where... or there was no other place like Trinity Club.)
BT: Nahi Trinity club chya ashya sarkhi suvidha asnare club nahi aahe. ( No no other club had facilities like Trinity Club.)Paise Paise (Money, Money) everybody wants money
ani ata paise milat naslya mule aani old people don jine chadhaiche he sagla tyana traas hoila lagla lokana suddha. ( And because they wasn't enough money and old people couldn't climb the stairs and all this was making it difficult for people.)
Ani nantar Musical art society, Dadar music cirlce asa kai don teen circles aale pan te vargani gheun, paise deun. Kalakarala regular paise deyche te asach hya sanstha hotya aahet ajun chalu aahet tya suddha tya kami padat gelya.
( Then there was Musical Art Society, Dadar Music Cirlce there two three circles like this but this was all with contributions with money. They would pay the artist regularly and there only these organisations of them are still there but have also dropped in numbers.)
Ata tumhi loka kartat sangita saathi kahi hoel asa vatata ( what you are doing gives me some hope for music) as you are taking interest in it let us see.
BT: All programmes I played for harmonium with her. All programmes. Woh Arti ke programme mein bhi main America gaya tha bahut programme bajaya main Arti ke saath ( I went to America along with Arti for her programme I played for a lot of programmes with Arti.) Harmonium.
ST:Chaar dafe gaye the States mein. ( He's gone 4 times to the US)
BT: 2 dafe gaya tha ( I went twice)
SS: Toh aap yeh programme ke baare mein thoda batange jab apka satkar hua Trinity.
( Can you tell us more about the programme when you were felicitated at Trinity)
ST: Ha woh dono milkar ek satkar kiya Brahmin Sabha aur bahut overflowing audience tha aur woh maine bataya unko ke
( The two did a combined felicitation Bhramin Sabha aur and the audience was overflowing ad I told them that)
TN: Brahmin Sabha aur (and) Trintiy Club. Accha (Okay)
ST: Trinity Club. Aur woh dono mein main ek common thi ke main unke drama mein kaam karti thi aur Trinity Club ki sabhasad thi is liye toh unhone kiya un logon ne bahut bada kiya tha.
( Between these two I was common because I would act for Brahmin sabha and I was the councillor of Trinity Club that's why they did and such a grand event)
Aur maine khaali yeh bataya ke yeh jo gaiki hai Bal Gandharva ki woh hai sahi, asli toh Jaipur gharane ki hai phir woh sweet kaisa karna, easy kaise karna woh sab bata diya gaya tha Bhaskarbua Bakhle se Bal Gandharva ko aur Master Krishnarao ko.
(And I told them that this singing of Bal Gandharva is right but the real thing is Jaipur gharana how to make it sound sweet , how to make it easy that was all told by Bhaskarbua Bakhle to Bal Gandharva and Master Krishnarao)
Baad mein unke paas toh tabla bhi tha isliye meri sab tayaari unhono ne karke di is liye maine toh bataya tha ke woh bahut katheen gayaki hai phir bhi easy karke kaise gana yeh gayaki mein aya hai Bal Gandharvaji ke
( Later, he had the tabla so he had done all the preparation for me and I told them that it's very difficult singing but how to make it easy and how to sing it has come across in the singing of Bal Gandharva )
woh sab katheen gayan gaate the na phir bhi woh ekdum meethas thi gaane mein. Woh sab lena bahut mehnat ka kaam tha woh liya maine aur competiton mein first aayi. Isiliye woh satkar tha.
(All of them would sing really difficult styles but still there was a sweetness to the singing. To be able to sing like was a lot of hard work and I did that and I came first in the competition adn that's why they felicitated me.)
Tayaari meri sab unhone aur Master Krishanrao Chonkar aapko malum hoga unhone aur inhone sab karke li thi tayaari. ( He has helped me prepare him and Master Krishnarao Chonkar you would know him) so I could sing that.
SS: Are there other programmes jo aapko yaad hai ( That you remember?)
Ya kisi ne khaas hi kuch ga diya ho jo abhi tak aapke jehan main hai aisa
( Or if someone sang something exceptional that you still remember)
ST: Woh club mein. Club main ya Brahmin Sabha mein ya Club mein?
BT: Brahmin Sabha madhye charity commisoner was a President
ST: Nahi te vichartat ekandar programmes tumcha khaas mahiteche.
( No they are asking from all the programmes any one specical one that you know.)
ST: Brahmin Sabha mein kya hota tha three floors would be over flowing trams ke jamane mein Master Krishnarao aur dusre Ram Marathe woh sab aise bujurg aate the na gaane ke liye baad baad mein woh Jitendra Abhishek yeh gaye sab phir unke jamane mein woh jon teen chaar floors sab Brahmin Sabhe ke the woh over flow hone ke baad raaste ke upar bhi baith te the sun ke liye.
( Brahmin Sabha the 3 floors would be overflowing this is in days of trams. Master Krishnarao and Ram Marathe all these elders would come to sing and later Jitendra Abhishek, him and their time the 3 or 4 floors of Brahmin Sabha would overflow and the crowd would spill on the street to listen.)
TN: Aap dekhe hai? ( Have you seen this?)
ST: ha, maine dekehe hai. Main frock main thi ha choti thi phir bhi main bhi bench upar khadi hoke sunti thi mereko bahut lagan thi woh programmes us jamane mein hote the baad mein thoda thoda kam hone laga abhi toh nahi.
( Yes, I have seen thi. I was in a frock. I was very young I would stand on a bench and listen I was very fond of the programmes that happened during those days after sometime they became less and now they don't happen at all.)
Abhi Arti bhi gayi thi arti ka bhi bahut accha hua us time
( Even Arti sang and she was very good)
SS: Kahan Trinity mein? ( Where in Trinity?
ST: Nahi idhar Brahmin Sabha mein Ganpati mein ( No here in Brahmin Sabha during Ganpati) Trinity la bhi woh gayi thi. (she has sung in Trinity also)
SS: Toh us jamane mein aisa tha ke jo bhi singer banna ka ambition tha woh chahte the ke woh Trinity club mein gaye ( So in those days was it that anyone with an ambition to become a singer would want to sing at the Trinity Club?)
ST: Ha bas.. ( Oh yeah.) Nai bujurg bhi aate the na maine bataya aapko unhono ne bataya abhi ke Kesarbai Kerkar ne, Mai Kurdikar... Mogubai Kurdikar aur Kumar Gandharvaji Kirshnarao Chonkar sab log aate the last mein jo Bal Gandharva sab log aate Bal Gandharva unko kursi mein bithake laya tha. Meri career shuru hua tabhi ashirwaad diya unhone mereko.
( No the older people would also come he told you Kesarbai Kerkar, Mai Kurdikar.. Mogubai Kurdikar and Kumar Gandharva, Kirshna Chonkar all of them would come. In the end Bal Gandharva was brought in a chair. my career had just started he gave me his blessings.)
SS: Wahan pe ek photo hai Bal Gandharvaji ki Trinity Club mein.. ke andar main vahan pe (There's a photograph of Bal Gandharva inside Trinity Club)
ST: Ha ha (Yes, Yes)
ST: Humara jab marriage hua tab aisa hua tha ke sab Trinity woh jo committe members the unke ghar jaate the woh Mahim rahte the na Bal Gandharva toh dusre din paper mein bhi aya abhi Bal Gandharv kai Bal Gandharva Trinity Clubath woh ulta diya unhone kyunki yeh sab gaye tha na aur woh rone lage the gana sunte hi rone lage.
( When we got married, it so happened that the Committee Members of Trinity who would go to his place he used to live in Mahim, Bal Gandharva. The next day it was in the newpaper what was it? Bal Gandharva at Trinity they had written it the other way because they had all gone there and he started crying as soon as he heard them sing)
BT: Main gaya unke saamne, unke hi geet gaya main ( I sang his songs in front of him)
SS: aap gaye? ( You sang)
BT: Toh main gaata hoon aur woh unka aankh se paani aa raha tha ( I was singing and he has tears in his eyes)
SS: Toh kya gaaya hoga aapne kuch yaad hai? ( what did you sing do you remember?)
ST: Bal Gandharva geet te je gaiche tech ( Bal Gandharva song whatever he sang)
ST: Te gaiche mhanun tar te mhanale ki mala majhi aathvan hotay tumi itka gatai mala gata yet nahi aata. Faar vaigle hote te. Chaan tyancha. Tya vele la majhi mula lahaan hoti mi nahi jayche ( because he sang he said I remember myself when I see you singing and I cannot sing. He was very different very nice. My kids were really small then so I couldn't go)
BT: Uday our Uday Tikekar you must know. Uday he's serial kaam karta hai na natak mein kaam karta hai, serial mein kaam karta hai, film mein kaam karta hai. Uski wife Arti hai ( Uday acts in serials, theatre he has worked in films too. His wife is Arti)
ST: Jyada personal hona nahi chahiye is liye hum nahi bole nahi toh
( It shouldn't be too personal that's why we didnt say much)
SS: Nahi personal bhi chalega aapke khud ke jo memories kuch bhi Trinity Club ko leke.
( No personal is also ok whatever your personal memories are about Trinity Club)
Kyunki Trinity club khaas ek jagah hai Bambai ke ithehas mein aur music ke ithehas mein bhi kyunki aisi jagah aur kahin nahi humne nahi suni.
( Because Trinity club is a special place in he history of Bombay and in the history of music and he have not heard about any other place like this.)
ST: Nahi hai ( not it's not there)
BT: Nahi Tey People are comung after Trinity Club. Te Trinity Club cha naav dya mahnje gardi hoeel. ( Give Trinity club's name then there will be a crowd) People will come
ST: Aata suddha sangeet shikshak sangha ni jagah ghetli hoti na mhanje tyani sangitlya nantar tyani Trinity club cha naav pahijech mhanale. ( Even now Sangeet Shikshak Sangha borrowed the space and then they later said we want Trinity Club's name.)
BT: Pahijej pahije. ( We want it We want it)
ST: Pratek thikani Trinity club ha pahijech. Bhaskarbua Bakhlayan pasun... Mahnje aamhi jaaste nashibvaan samajto Bhaskar bua ithe hya waditach rahat hote, aani nantar mag amhala kalat gela tasa aani Bal Gandharva ithech mandiratach rahaiche taynche kahi karyakram asla ki ithe utraiche. Asa mhantat amchya aadhi chi gosht aahe. Pan tyamule aamhala mahatva vaata khoopach tyache
Everywhere the name Trinity Club was needed. From Bhaskarbua Bakhle. We consider ourselves lucky because Bhaskarbua was staying in the same neighbourhood and later when started understanding things we figured Bal Gandharva would stay in a temple close by that's what they say. These are stories before our time. But that's why feel it's very important.)
BT: Oh so thank you very much again I'm thanking you.
SS: Thank you. Aapka time bhi liya aur itna khoobsurat sunne ko mila. ( We took your time but we heard such nice things)
