Summary: Dance Dialogues is a space for dance makers and dance lovers to collaborate, reflect and explore ideas that inform their practice in multi-disciplinary ways, towards enriching dance practice in India. It promotes the understanding ofdance as a richly layered practice that shares perforated boundaries with other art forms. Dance Dialogues curates sessionsexploring various facets of dance and facilitates structured peer sharing opportunities for new and evolving choreographic works.
A work-in-progress sharing of wonkot, a dance theatre production inspired by Rumi's interpretation of the parable about an elephant in a dark room. wonkot is choreographed by Avantika Bahl. In this piece, the four dancers - Amrita Bagchi, Antara Majumdar, Binal Shah and Soumya Lakshmynarayanan, use movement, texture, imagery and spoken word to explore parallel narratives within Rumi's story.The dancers and choreographer share their process and perform excerpts from the production. The musicians, Adriel George and Pruthu Parab, join Avantika in the post-performance discussion.
