Summary: Event 1: Pavement Dwellers Organisation’s Community Gathering on the day Of Dussehra

Around 30 leaders of different communities (Pavement Dwellers Organisation) came together on the day of Dussehra to bridge the gap between them and foster love among themselves – a way for group building. It was organized by Footpath Pavement Dwellers Organisation with the support of YUVA.
People are presenting leaves to another as gold, a custom on Vijayadashami. People are singing songs and expressing their love to each other by hugging each other. Some are greeting with each other as handshake. Large number of people belonging to different religion and from different age groups participated in the event. YUVA staff members - Mohan Chavan, Kaushariya Salvi, Suresh Kadam Machindra Wankede have also participated in the gathering. People are dancing on garbas and playing fugdi. This video was screened at many places to mobilise people at particular place.
Event 2: Demonstration against demolition (October 1994) Opposite Samrat Hotel, Churchgate

Large numbers of demolition, of slums and payment dwellers constructed in 1990 were considered illegal, have been taken place during rainy season of 1994. Many NGO and CBO from Mumbai came together and protested against the demolition and demanded their right to housing for many new homeless people due to this demolition.

It initiates with an awareness song “Shiknarya Bhavara Lihanrya Bhavara”. Some people are standing and others sitting and getting inspired from the song.

As soon as this song ends, people declare together that, “Hum sab ek hai” and “Yeh ek toh angdai hai, aage aur ladai hai.”
