60th anniversary of Independence Day of our beloved country Afghanistan was celebrated on 28th Asad (19th August) in a special and glorious ceremony. Our great leader stated in this regard:
"In the name of Allah, the merciful and the compassionate. Dear and loving compatriots, I am very happy to congratulate my noble and patriotic countrymen on the occasion of the 60th glorious anniversary of our country's independence. I pay my warm tributes to the holy spirit of those martyrs who have fought for getting the independence for the country and have sacrificed their lives with bravery. Independence of Afghanistan is a result of those public and brave combats that acted as a unforgettable lesson to Britain's old colonialism in three bloody combats and courageous fighting of one and a half centuries; and this holy desire was fulfilled and good results were seen. We are proud to say that Afghanistan was the first country in the entire east that brought the British colonisers to their knees through the patriotic combat of its fighter people and thus opened the floodgates for the success of other nations who wanted independence."
On occasion of this fortunate and national day, Secretary of Central Committee, Member of Political Bureau and Prime Minister, members of Political Bureau and Central Committee, members of Revolutionary Council and Ministers' Council, Generals and those military officers who are working as acting generals, civil high ranking officials up to rank number two and those who are working at post of second rank, went to the Prime Minister's Palace in the morning from 8 am till 10:30 am and on the occasion of 60th anniversary of independence of country registered their congratulatory wishes in a special register for great leader of public of Afghanistan, Noor Mohammad Taraki and signed the register.
28th of Asad 1368 which is correspondent to 19th August 1979, is the day for celebration of 60th anniversary of independence of beloved Afghanistan. On this occasion which is happening in the second fortunate year of Democratic Republic of Afghanistan; I congratulate the great leader of the revolution, General Secretary of Central Committee of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan, Chairman of Revolutionary Council and Chairman of Supreme Defence Council of the country, Noor Mohammad Taraki.
On the occasion of this historical and glorious day, the Heads of Resident Corps Diplomats in Kabul registered and signed their congratulatory messages in this special register in the morning from 11 am till 12 noon which was kept in Prime Minister Palace.
General Secretary of Central Committee of People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan and Chairman of Revolutionary Council Noor Mohammad Taraki and Mrs. Taraki attended that grand party which was arranged on the occasion of 60th anniversary of Independence of our beloved country, on the evening of the same day in Nation's House. Meanwhile Secretary of Central Committee of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan, member of Political Department and Prime Minister, Hafizullah Amin with his respected spouse, members of Political Bureau and People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan, members of Revolutionary Council and Ministers' council with their respected wives had participated in this gathering.
