The minister of Information and Culture delivered a speech prior to the performances of artists from friendly countries and presented his note of thanks to the artists who had participated and taken part in the first anniversary of the establishment of our newly born republic.
A delegation of artists of our neighboring and friendly country, the Soviet Union, also participated in the first commemoration of the establishment of our republic. This is a part of the performances of the Russian artists on the stage of Kabul Nandari (stadium) in the area allocated for the celebration of republic day.

At the end of this performance, the honourable Head of the Government and the Prime Minister received the artists of friendly countries one-by-one and talked to each one and bestowed his kindness upon them.
In the honor of artists and athletes of the friendly countries, whose athletic and artistic delegations participated in the first commemoration of the establishment of the republic in Kabul, a lunch invitation was made by Professor Dr. Navin, the Minister of Information and Culture in the garden of Paghman Hill. In this invitation, some of the members of the Central committee, the cabinet members, and some of the high ranking officials of the government, and some of the members of the corps diplomatique residing in Kabul participated along with their athletic and artistic delegations.
During the auspicious days of celebrations of the establishment of a republic in Afghanistan, athletic teams from neighboring and friendly countries participated in the competition. In this section, we watch a volleyball match between Afghan and Iranian teams. Many of the fans of sport gathered in the polytechnic gymnasium and witnessed the skills and the efforts of the competitors of the two volleyball teams. This match which was organized in a friendly environment between the two teams from Iran and Afghanistan ended in favor of the Iranian team.
Wrestling has been one of the ancient games of our country, and during the course of history, the athletes of our country have participated in various grand competitions all around the world, in which the youth have showcased their prowess. Athletes with their trained muscles and fit bodies, carefully wrestle with each other and try to bring their rivals' backs to the floor. This is part of a wrestling competition organized in commemoration of the first anniversary of the establishment of the republic in Ghazi Stadium.
And this is a part of the spear throwing race by the Afghan riders which was held in commemoration of the first anniversary of the establishment of the republic in Afghanistan in the grand field of Chaman-e-hozouri.
His Excellency, Mohamed Dauod, the Head of the Government and the Prime Minister, watched the football match between the two teams of Pamir of the Soviet Union and National Petrol Industry of Iran in the evening of Tuesday 1st of Asad (23rd July) in Ghazi Stadium. The arrival of his Excellency, the Head of the Government and the Prime Minister at the Ghazi Stadium coincided with the continuous applause and emotional fervour of thousands of patriotic and republic-loving people of our country, including men, women, the young and the old who had gathered to watch the match in the stands of Ghazi Stadium. The football match between teams from the Soviet Union and Iran went on till approximately 8:00 p.m. While the two team members were playing skillfully and energetically, the match ended with a draw result of 1:1.

At the end of the football match, the people of Kabul who had gathered in the Ghazi stadium stood in front of the republic stand and welcomed our republic leader in such a warm fashion, that it could not be possibly described in words!
While departing, His Excellency, Mohamed Daoud, the Head of the Government and the Prime Minister, walked amongst his own people after watching the fireworks organized in the Presidential Palace camp; thousands of people from the centre and provinces who had come to witness the merry celebrations of the establishment of the republic at the venue of the celebrations welcomed our national leader on his route with the slogans of "long live our national leader," or "long live republic of Afghanistan", with their warm, patriotic emotions. They were falling over each other in their attempt to pay respect to him, as the founder of the republic, as a result of which his movement amongst people took a long time. His Excellency, Head of the Government and the Prime Minister reciprocated those patriotic emotions and tributes making his way through the crowd. This merry excitement in welcoming the Head of the Government and the Prime Minister represents the gratitude of the people of Afghanistan for the leader of the republican revolution. The last nights of the month of Saratan (July) of this year witnessed decorative lighting in the entire city in honor of the anniversary of the establishment of republic in the country. The venue of the celebrations and the streets around the Chaman-e-hozouri have been decorated tastefully and thousands of lights of different colors have been lighting up the area.
And this is the glorious 26th Saratan Road, named after the date 26th Saratan, 1352 (17th July, 1973) which has been recorded as the most prominent date in the history of the Afghan nation. The road deserves to ...
