On invitation of Mr. Mohammad Daoud, Leader and Prime Minister of the country, Prime Minister of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi reached Afghanistan on 13th Saratan (4th July) for an official and friendly visit. Standing near the airplane, Leader of revolution welcomed his respected guests and introduced his accompanying friends to Prime Minister of India. In reciprocation, Mrs. Gandhi introduced her accompanying delegation to our national leader. Leader of revolution and his respected guests proceeded towards Ceremonial Guard and accepted their greetings.

At this moment the music of India's national anthem and Afghanistan's national anthem were played. Leaders of both countries acknowledged greeting ceremony of Ceremonial Guard and proceeded further.

A number of children wearing Afghan traditional dresses presented bouquets of flowers to the guests of the national leader. After that Prime Minister of India greeted First Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Hassan Sharq and second deputy of Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mr. Sayed Abdul Elah, Members of Cabinet and Central Committee, Generals of Republican Army, Heads of Corp Diplomatic and staff members of Indian Embassy in Kabul.

On 13th of Saratan (4th July), Prime Minister of India participated in a dinner reception at 8:30 pm which was arranged by the Head of Government and Prime Minister Mr. Mohammad Daoud in her honor in welcome hall of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Our national leader's spouse Ms. Jennat Daoud had also participated in this dinner reception.

Our national leader said during this reception, "It is a pleasure for me that tonight once again we are welcoming your Highness and your respected companions to Afghanistan. In this meeting, on occasion of friendly and hearty relationship between India and Afghanistan, I pay regards to you and welcome you. Friendship between Afghanistan and India is not a new thing and it has not emerged just with passing the time. I see this with happiness that friendship between Afghanistan and India and relationship to help each other is in interest of both the countries and has become vast in interest of intact and healthy security of the world and region and has given fruitful outcomes."

In response to this Mrs. Gandhi said, "It is a pleasure for me that I have come to Afghanistan once again. I am pleased with the warm and hearty welcome that you and people of Kabul have extended to me and my accompanying delegation. I have brought with me best wishes and warm greetings of the Indian people to Afghanistan's Republic and great leader President Daoud who is the representative of the Independence of Afghanistan.

All official talks between Head of Government and Prime Minister Mr. Mohammad Daoud and Indian Prime Minister were held in friendly atmosphere which is a specification of close relationship between both countries. In these talks, from Afghanistan side first deputy of Prime Minister Office, second deputy and Minister of Finance, Ministers of Commerce and Planning, Deputy of Foreign Affairs Ministry, and the Afghan Ambassador to Delhi were present; while from Indian side prominent companions of the Indian Prime Minister attended these talks.

Mrs. Indira Gandhi and her accompanying delegation attended the party hosted in their honor by First Deputy of Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Hassan Sharq and Mrs. Sharq at Paghman Hill. This party was attended by the deputies of Prime Minister Office, Minister of Finance, members of Central Committee of the Cabinet, Governor of Kabul, Mayor of Kabul and accompanying delegation of Mrs. Indira Gandhi and ambassadors of both countries. Radio Afghanistan's artists performed a concert in this party.

On the evening of 14th of Saratan (5th July) the Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi visited the children's hospital. Upon arrival of Indian Prime Minister and her companions, Afghan Minister of Health Professor Dr. Abdullah Omar and some staff members of the said ministry welcomed them. Mrs. Gandhi visited the patients.

Mrs. Gandhi attended a party which was organized in her honor by the Ambassador of India in Kabul and his spouse at the residence of the ambassador.

Head of Government and Prime Minister Mr. Mohammad Daoud and Her Highness Mrs. Jennat Daoud attended the party which was hosted by the Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi in their honor in Intercontinental Hotel. In this party, deputies of the Prime Minister Office, members of Cabinet and Central Committee, High ranking officials of both civil and military organizations along with their spouses had participated. Heads of both governments delivered speeches during this party.

In a press conference, Indian Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi termed her talk's outcome with Afghanistan as beneficial and valuable. In this conference which was held in the garden of the place where she was staying, Indian Prime Minister told in response to questions of local and foreigner reporters, "Afghanistan is a courageous country like India and has always defended its independence and would continue to do so.

Mrs. Indira Gandhi and her accompanying delegation left Kabul for their country in the afternoon of 16th Saratan (7th July). Mrs. Gandhi bid farewell to First Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Hassan Sharq, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mr. Sayed Abdul Elah, members of Cabinet and Central Committee, Chief of Army Staff, Civil High Ranking Officials and Generals of Republican Army and Corp Diplomats. After that heads of both countries went to their designated place and then the music of national anthem of Republic of India and national anthem of Republic of Afghanistan were played. Thereafter they acknowledged tributes and greetings of Ceremonial Guard and left the place.

Afterwards the leader of revolution went up to the airplane with his respected guest and bid goodbye to her. He wished them all a pleasant journey.
