The new, visible developments which have been recently achieved in all affairs of the country under the guidance and concern of His Highness the King, efforts and policy making by the authorities, assures us of a promising future.
One of the beneficial and effective actions of the government has been the creation and foundation of the fruit factory of Kandahar. This factory was founded on 20th Jawza, 1342 (10th June, 1963) started its production in a special ceremony.
On that day, the late Mr. Abdul Hai Aziz, former Minister of Planning and a few of other government officials gave speeches for this particular occasion.
After speeches, and with the cutting of the tri-colored ribbon, Mr. Aziz inaugurated the factory. This factory produces different varieties of compotes, sorbet and other products of such nature from the variety of the available fruits of Kandahar. The products of the factory are packed in sealed cans in an interesting way with special machines and based on hygienic standards. This way, the earlier demands of the domestic and international market for Afghanistan's dry and fresh fruits would be fulfilled with a better quality of fruits.
The other visit scheduled for the delegation was to the project site of the road between Kandahar and Kabul. This road like other connecting roads has an important and considerable role in the general condition of the country, especially for the betterment of the economic situation of the country.
Modern machinery and tools under the guidance of the national and international technicians and specialists are operated by Afghan laborers to prepare the roads for tar spraying and paving. Work for flattening of the lands is being done with considerable speed.
The delegation then proceeded towards Lashkargah to observe the progress of work in that region and on 22nd Jawza, 1342 (12th June, 1963) the 293 meter long bridge of Lashkargah constructed on the Helmand River was inaugurated.
In the course of visits, the delegation visited the road between Kandahar and Herat and sorted out the related issues. The initiatives taken in the recent years with regard to road construction, road repairing and paving roads in total and at parts have changed the condition of people's lives. Proper roads and good streets not only shorten the distances but also have an important role in expediting the economic processes and preparing the ground for better transportation and creation of basis for knowing and connection amongst people of different parts of the country.
The delegation on its way stopped to look at the use of technology in factories that are equipped with the very latest tools. Afghan laborers in every corner of the country work hard with enthusiasm and seriousness. Afghan laborers have shown and proved their talent in learning modern techniques and technical details and delicacies.
Modern machinery and tools are now largely used in different fields of activities. Tractors and bulldozers are used in various parts of the country for flattening and preparation of the grounds for the foundation of the roads. We hope that in near future, in the shadow of the government's concern, attention and with the efforts of Afghan laborers and the employers, all the roads of the country will be constructed and repaired in a satisfactory way.
Concrete and paved roads are quite helpful in transporting goods, transportation of vehicles and improvement of economic situation and other issues.
This street the same way is connected to the roads within the city.
On 26th Saratan, 1342 (17th July, 1963) a new step was taken in cleaning of the city. On the same day and because of this occasion, a gathering took place in one of the ten districts of the city in which the former Minister of Planning, Mayor of Kabul, some of the experts of United Nations and government officials and people of that area were participating. At the beginning mayor of Kabul talked about the things helping the development and beautification of the city. Then late Abdul Hai Aziz, former Minister of Planning, stated on the government policy and actions about the situation of the city, importance of cleanness and health issues. In the end, after thanking the good policies of the government, one of the citizens, expressed his and his fellow citizens' readiness for fulfilling this goal.
We hope with the concern of the authorities, and people's cooperation, the historical city of Kabul will occupy the place it deserves amongst the rest of the cities in the world.
