Visit of His Excellency the Indian President to Afghanistan
This year on 27th of Saratan (17th July), respected President of India His Excellency Dr. Zakir Hussain had a short halt in Kabul while returning from Soviet Union to India. And this is the respected His Excellency's airplane which has reached Kabul airport. His highness the King of Afghanistan came close to the airplane to welcome His Excellency Dr. Zakir Hussain. In this visit, some family members of the Indian President are also with him. Her Highness Princess Bilquis also participated in this welcome ceremony. His highness, the king said welcome to the Indian President in the Afghan capital and introduced the present people to him.
Mr. Prime Minister, Chief Justice, Chairman of the lower house, Minister of the Royal Court, Chairman of the upper house, First Deputy of the Prime Minister Office, Chief of Civil Aviation Department.
Heads of both friendly countries, in a special style, reached that stand from where they would receive the greetings of the Respect Guard. At this time Afghanistan's royal greetings and India's national anthem were played on instruments.
After Meeting the Ceremonial Guard at the airport, President of India Dr. Zakir Hussain met the senior army and civil officials and Indians residing in Kabul and shook hands with them.
His highness, the King and his respected royal guest came to the Royal Palace directly from the airport. Dilkusha Palace is located in the heart of Kabul. In this great palace, those distinguished guests of his highness have always been welcomed who have come from various countries of the world to our country on friendly visits.
In this series, the arms of this palace are today open to welcome the Indian President. Soon after his arrival in Kabul, Dr. Zakir Hussain had a friendly meeting with his highness, the King in the big hall of this palace. In this meeting respected Prime Minister, Minister of the Royal court, First Deputy of the Prime Minister Office, Minister of Education, Second Deputy of the Prime Minister Office, Ministers of planning and commerce were present from the Afghanistan side. From Indian side, Minister of Railway, Secretary of External Affairs Ministry and the Indian Ambassador in Kabul had participated. Brief talks of interest of both countries, international situations and relations between Afghanistan and India were held in friendly atmosphere.
Ceremony of Inauguration of new building of secondary techniques
On 6th of Saratan (27th June), new building of Secondary Techniques School was inaugurated next to the old building of this school. This new building's construction work started two years ago and is completed with help of our friend country America as that country has funded a major part of its expenses. Main parts of this building includes two workshops, three buildings of classes, and building for hostel for 400 students, offices, store rooms and others that are equipped with modern equipments.
Director of Secondary Techniques said in ceremony of inauguration, "this institute has trained around 1000 students since 1330 (1951) in various technical wings.
Chief of International Development Department of the USA, Mr. McLeod said, "Building of this modern institute for technical school reveals that Government of Afghanistan is giving lots of importance to education in national development.
Mr. Robert Newman, the Ambassador of the USA in Kabul said in his speech, "matter of happiness in cooperation between Afghanistan and the USA is training of Afghans and new building of the Secondary Techniques is another example of this cooperation".
In his speech, Dr. Ali Ahmad Popal, First Deputy of the Prime Minister Office and Minister of Education, while giving some details about the insufficiencies in technical part of the country and ways of overcoming that expressed hope that this institute is a big center of development of technical studies in the country.
At the end of the speeches, First Deputy of the Prime Minister Office and Minister of Education inaugurated this building by cutting the ribbon. After that they visited different parts of this building along with the other invited guests that includes Dr. Mohammad Anas - Minister of Information and Culture, some members of cultural affairs commissions of the upper house and lower house, some representatives and Senate members, high ranking officials of the ministries, local and foreigner teachers of this school and students of techniques. During this visit the related in charge persons of every part were giving explanations to them.
New building of Nadir Shah Mina
Construction of a new modern neighborhood in eastern part of Kabul city is counted as one of those broad steps towards building the city and providing residences and housing to people that are towards bettering the living standard of the country. This neighborhood is known as Nadir Shah Mina, and modern and furnished multi-storied buildings have been constructed in it. The construction of Nadir Shah Mina is being done with technical help of our friend country Soviet Union and needs of small as well as big families have been considered in it. In these buildings, numbers of rooms in apartments, and size of other equipments is proportional with numbers of the family members.
In addition to those equipments like modern bathrooms, modern kitchens, halls, bedrooms, water heating system and general water supply in this neighborhood, mosques, kindergartens, hospitals, garages, nice restaurants, sports fields and grocery shops have also been built.
Those families, who choose to live in modern buildings of Nadir Shah Mina apartments one after another, can use all those modern and hygienic equipments of those houses.
Comfortable houses and satisfactory life is the great aim of development plans in our country and as we see government and people have been progressing fast in this direction together as much as possible.
There is a wide field in front of the buildings here for a swimming pool for children and for recreation and rest of the families after their daily routine work.
